Time is running out for vehicle technicians to take part in one of the UK’s most prestigious competitions — Top Technician 2025.
With entries closing at midnight on Monday April 28, there are now just days left for a chance to be crowned the country’s Top Technician.
Now in its 23rd year, Top Technician has become the benchmark for workshop excellence. Each year, technicians from independent garages, fast-fit centres and franchised workshops compete to claim the ultimate recognition of their diagnostic and technical expertise.
Thousands of entries are received, all hoping to win one of the most respected accolades in the trade.
But Top Technician is about more than just winning. Launched in 2002, the competition was developed as a valuable tool for continuous professional development. It offers technicians the opportunity to benchmark their abilities, highlighting strengths and pinpointing areas for improvement, and gain invaluable feedback from industry experts.
“The benefits of entering extend well beyond the trophy,” said Ryan Fuller, managing director at the Top Awards.
“Technicians gain personalised feedback, new knowledge, and, in many cases, a fresh perspective on their careers. You don’t have to win to walk away with something valuable.”
The 2025 competition kicks off with a series of online assessments, with the top 10 scorers advancing to the semi-finals at the Delphi Academy in Warwick on Saturday October 4.
There, they will face a series of timed, live diagnostic challenges set by expert judges. The five finalists will return for the final round on Saturday November 15, where they will tackle a full day of advanced tasks under the clock, testing their skills to the max.
The winner and runner-up will be announced later that evening at a glamorous awards gala dinner at the DoubleTree by Hilton Coventry, where they’ll be celebrated alongside their peers.
With prizes worth around £40,000 up for grabs — including tools, training, cash, and more — it’s a unique opportunity for technicians of all experience levels to showcase their skills.
Technicians are urged to enter before the April 28 deadline to challenge themselves, benchmark their skills, and accelerate their professional growth in the Top Technician 2025 competition.
Entries can be made online here.
The entry deadline for sister competitions, Top Garage and Top Apprentice, is May 30.
